I posted a prophetic Word on Facebook a couple of months ago that what God is doing in this next season would be so completely different from what we’ve ever seen that we might not even see it!! I prayed that God’s people would see what He was doing, and not miss Him in this next move of His Spirit.
This morning God put me in John 8. By verse 15 Jesus has told the Pharisees how much they don’t know God.
THEY didn’t know they didn’t know God. They THOUGHT they knew God. They ACTED like they knew God. They were completely convinced that they knew God…but they didn’t even see him, even when He was standing right in front of them.
They didn’t know what they didn’t know.
The new season we are in – the season of BREAKTHROUGH – requires spending time in His presence. Because you don’t know what you don’t know until God tells you.
Jesus spoke in John 8 about how HE behaved as a Son of God. Jesus ONLY said what He heard the Father say. Jesus ONLY did what He saw the Father doing. This is a truth we are convinced we know, and Jesus is our model, right?
But the question remains…how about US?
Do we REALLY know what God is saying in this hour? Do we REALLY know what God is doing in this hour? Do we know what we don’t know?
Jesus said to the Pharisees , “15 You [set yourselves up to] judge according to the flesh (by what you see). [You condemn by external, human standards.] I do not [set Myself up to] judge or condemn or sentence anyone.” John 8:15 (AMP)
Listen, if we don’t SEE what God sees, we are Pharisees. If we don’t SAY what God is saying, we’re Pharisees. We may be conditioned by what we have been taught as TRUE doctrine – even in this last season — and yet totally miss God, even if He is standing right in front of us.
You don’t know what you don’t know.
The Bible says that we have the Mind of Christ. The Pharisees of John 8 hadn’t heard this truth yet. They were convinced they were right. THEY knew God. This guy was just an outsider, another upstart, just another rebel in their eyes, one of many of that time.
Now hear this — it was “in their eyes” – they were gauging the actions of God by their own standards. Jesus even said so! Here it is again… “You [set yourselves up to] judge according to the flesh (by what you see). [You condemn by external, human standards.]” John 8:15 (AMP)
Listen to what Jesus says next,
“26 I have much to say about you and to judge and condemn. But He Who sent Me is true (reliable), and I tell the world [only] the things that I have heard from Him.” John 8:26 (AMP)
And again, in verse 28, “…that I do nothing of Myself (of My own accord or on My own authority), but I say [exactly] what My Father has taught Me.”
How did Jesus learn what God wanted Him to do? IN HIS PRESENCE!
“42 Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would love Me and respect Me and welcome Me gladly, for I proceeded (came forth) from God [out of His very presence]. I did not even come on My own authority or of My own accord (as self-appointed); but He sent Me.” John 8:42 (AMP)
How would He know He had been sent if He hadn’t spent time in God’s presence?
How will YOU know? How will you know WHAT God is doing in this BREAKTHROUGH SEASON?
How will you know what God is going to do in your life, in the lives of your family, in your ministry, in your business, in your country, in the world….if you don’t spend time in His presence?
You don’t know what you don’t know.
The people of God MUST spend time in God’s presence! In this season, the season of BREAKTHROUGH, we don’t want to miss God. This is the season of fulfillment! If you don’t spend time in God’s presence you may miss what He is doing IN THIS SEASON!
Don’t be a Pharisee! Don’t look at your life and the world like you did in the last season, or the one before. The cloud has moved on! Break camp, pack it up, and move on! Get out of the old and into the new!
Look at it the way God is looking at it. Watch out for anything that is different. LOOK for the NEW. LISTEN for the NEW. SPEAK the NEW.
Spend time in the presence of the One Who will talk to you and teach you what He wants to do in you this season, and you will KNOW that you KNOW.
Because until you do – you don’t know what you don’t know….and believe me, you want to know!
