VERY IMPORTANT WORD TO THE BRETHREN!!
I distinctly heard God tell me yesterday afternoon to take a left at a certain street on my way home from work. The reason (I thought!) is that traffic is ridiculous at rush hour in the Woodlands. Anyway, I sat at this traffic light for three full cycles — the light was NOT working. I said, “What is up with this God???”
So, I waited for the car behind me to back up and pull around me, then I did the same and continued up the road to Woodlands Parkway, which of course was a parking lot. I then heard God say, “I didn’t tell you to go this way. Turn around and go back.” By this point, hearing but yet not obeying, I was on the dark side of the moon and couldn’t go back. I was stuck in traffic. There was one possible way out, through a subdivision to my right. Truthfully, I wasn’t even sure I COULD get out that way, or not get lost in the subdivision.
I said, “God, do I go straight or do I turn around???” He was silent for a moment, then I heard God *SIGH*. SIGH!!!!!
He said, “Go straight. Just go home.”
It was so sad.
See, here’s the point. If we are not asking God for direction about the LITTLE things — Hearing Him and then actually DOING what He says — when it comes time for us to get instruction about the BIG things we’re REALLY going to be stuck.
Even though His instructions MADE NO SENSE — to sit at a non-functioning street light, in traffic, with a long line of other people — that was what He wanted. It was a TEST, and I failed it. I HEARD Him, and I initially acted upon what I heard, until it got hard. I didn’t ask Him if I should go around the other cars in front of me.
I just ASSUMED that I should go around, I mean, after all, that was logical, right??? In fact, when I drove past the first car in that line, I felt downright RIGHTEOUS, kind of a “Ha-Ha, Sucker!” To me, it was a no-brainer, to simply keep moving forward.
People, LISTEN!! Hear this word of warning. Hard times are coming, and we not only have to HEAR the Lord, but follow His instructions. If he says to go left, and we do it, but then things don’t make sense or they get HARD, and we make a decision on our own to do something else which is LOGICAL IN HUMAN REASONING — we could wind up dead. Or worse.
The Lord is speaking. He has never stopped. We HEAR Him, sometimes with crystal clear clarity, yet we fail to obey — fully. That is what happened to Saul, remember, with the Amalekites? He lost his kingdom.
Don’t lose yours. If you are captured alive because you fail to obey the direction of the Lord FULLY — you could end up denying Christ to save your skin, and lose the Kingdom. Selah.
“Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
and to listen than the fat of rams.
For rebellion is as the sin of divination,
and presumption is as iniquity and idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,
he has also rejected you from being king.”
24 Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. 25 Now therefore, please pardon my sin and return with me that I may bow before the Lord.” 26 And Samuel said to Saul, “I will not return with you. For you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel.” 27 As Samuel turned to go away, Saul seized the skirt of his robe, and it tore. 28 And Samuel said to him, “The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you this day and has given it to a neighbor of yours, who is better than you.” (1 Samuel 15, v. 22 – 28)
